Summer showers and Butterflies

Don't believe the nice man in the tourist office, or the Meteo, if you want a weather forecast. Walk outside, look into the sky and if it's practically black and cloudy then it will probably rain! Today we set off from the village and arrived in St Chely, our intended stop the day before. It was a misty, moisty morning and after visiting the tourist office we set off for Marvejols, another walled, medieval town. It soon started to rain so we took shelter in a Bar Tabac for a while - any excuse for a hot chocolate - and chatted to locals about our trip. This region is very similar to the Ribble Valley, except that the 'valley' is at 1000m. The mountains on our left looked like Pendle Hill and Longridge Fell. As on most of the previous days we saw eagles and jays and heard cuckoos in the distance. The main tourist stops on the way were natural ones; Roc de Peyre and Vallee d'Anfer. Fortunately the sun came out to play and we had a beautiful day's cycling in the afternoon. The Vallee d'Anfer is a steep descent along a forested ravine where we were on the brakes for most of the time. A late shower made us don our waterproofs again, before we rolled into Marvejols.
